David’s choice of subject matter over the years has become quite diverse, at varies times concentrating on them one at a time. David believes that portrait painting requires the most discipline as minor changes either capture the sitter’s personality and likeness or miss the mark. Still life is where David feels he has the most choices; here David can choose everything from the objects he uses to the lighting. The variety that landscape offers is most appealing to David; here David can literally watch the subject change right before his eyes. Landscape requires the most editing being able to separate the clutter from the essential along with being decisive these are some of the qualities that make Landscape painting exciting to David.
